The single most common reason a car accessory gets returned is that it was never going to work in that car. This page tells you how to check, in about a minute, before you spend anything.
The ten-second CarPlay test
Plug your phone into your car with a cable and look at the car's screen.
- Your maps and music appear on the car screen — you have wired CarPlay or Android Auto. The wireless adapter will work.
- The screen ignores your phone completely — your car does not have CarPlay. No USB adapter can add it; that needs a replacement head unit, which we do not sell. Do not buy the adapter.
- It already connects on its own, with no cable — you have wireless CarPlay built in. The adapter would add nothing. Save your money.
What each product needs
Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto adapter
Requires a car that already runs wired CarPlay or Android Auto, and a phone on iOS 10 or Android 12 upwards. This is the only product here with a hard requirement.
WiFi OBD2 scanner
Works on essentially any petrol car from 2001 onwards and any diesel from 2004 onwards, because the OBD2 port has been mandatory since then. It connects over WiFi, not Bluetooth — that matters because you join it like a WiFi network rather than pairing it in your phone's Bluetooth menu. Check your OBD2 port is present: it is a trapezoid socket, usually under the dashboard on the driver's side.
4K triple dash cam
Fits any car with a 12V socket. Running it from the 12V socket needs no wiring at all. Parking mode is the exception: filming while the engine is off requires a hardwire kit to the fuse box, which is a separate job and not included.
MagSafe vent mount
Needs horizontal or grid-style air vents to clip onto. Round or fully recessed vents on some cars will not hold it. For phones, it needs either a MagSafe iPhone or a magnetic case.
65W 4-port car charger and the coiled MFi cable
Any car with a 12V cigarette-lighter socket. The cable is MFi-certified, which is what lets it carry CarPlay data rather than power only — the number one reason a cheap cable makes CarPlay "stop working".
Fibre-optic ambient lighting kit
Fits any car interior, but this is the one job that takes real time. The strand tucks under dashboard and door trim, which means gently easing panels open. Budget an afternoon, not ten minutes.
Faraday key pouch
Works with any keyless-entry fob. If your key has to be physically inserted and turned, you do not need it.
Still not sure?
Email us your car's make, model and year and what you are trying to fix. We will tell you which product does it, or that none of ours does. We would genuinely rather lose the sale than process the return.
